The Predictive Roles of Job Conditions, Psychological Climate and Organizational Stress on Turnover Intentions among Bankers

The study investigated job conditions, psychological climate and organizational stress as predictors of turnover intention among bank employees in Enugu state, Nigeria. Two hundred and fifty-four (254) bank employees (170 males and 84 females) participated in the study. Four instruments were used to collect data: job condition scale, psychological climate scale (PCS), organizational stress scale (OSS) and turnover intention scale. Regression analysis was employed to analyze the data. The result showed that job conditions and psychological climate both showed negative predictions to turnover intentions, thus,(β= -.26, P<.001), (β=-.13, P<.02), respectively. In contrast, organizational stress positively predicted turnover intentions (β= .33, P<.001). Findings and implications for managerial practices in the study were discussed. Limitations of the study were stated and suggestions made for further research.
